Snow and outtakes

What's this? Two blog posts in one day? You'd think I was trapped at home because of a blizzard or something. Oh. Right. I AM. This is what the beehives looked like this morning:
Snow-covered beehives
That was around 10am. There's several more inches of snow on them now and it's still coming down. We've seen many trees fall around us today. I'm hoping the ones close to the house will stay steady and strong. But, please, don't think I'm complaining. It's been a pretty fantastic day. We've spent lots of time snuggled up on the couch watching Christmas movies. We played inside and outside. And I finished up all of my gift making. This snow day was just what I needed.
And, because I have a little extra time, I'm sharing a few extra photos. We did a last-minute holiday card photo shoot last week. I thought I'd share the finished product along with a few outtakes. I love my silly family. They were so cooperative. Though, I admit, I had to bribe Walter with hot chocolate and marshmallows to get him to pose for a few pictures.

We're so EGG-cited!

It's here! It's here! Our first egg is here! A tiny green egg appeared in the pine shavings this morning.
The first egg
The green color means it must have come from one of the easter eggers. We're all betting it was Love.
The first egg
We cracked it open, scrambled it up, and split it three ways. Just as Walter had planned.

Good work, ladies! Keep 'em coming!

A visit with Santa

Walter really wanted to go to the North Pole to see Santa, but he settled for the mall. He spoke so quietly, I'm not sure Santa could hear his requests. Good thing he wrote a letter as a backup.

Polite little cookie

It's amazing how a project like decorating Christmas cookies can turn our (sometimes) demanding, rude, loud, little boy into the sweetest, most polite little darling you can imagine.
"Can I use the red frosting, please, Mama?"
"Your reindeer is so cute!"
"Will you put sprinkles on this one, please?"
"I'm making this snowflake for you."
I love working in the kitchen with Walter. It's a good place to be.
