The debate of the day at the Billmeyer household: capri-length pants for boys – yea or nay?
I know, I know. We have such intellectual discussions around here. Walter did a little modeling for us and now we would like to know what the rest of you think.
Is this the most adorable style of pants you've ever seen on a little boy? Or does he look ridiculous? Leave a comment with your vote. I'll post the results in a few days and let you know if these pants will stay in the rotation or go in the Goodwill pile...

Long pants. No capri for boys.
Nate
Hmm... I think that last comment indicates that even if they stay in the drawer, they will never see the light of day so long as Nate is the one getting him dressed. I think long shorts are better than short pants for boys but Walter seems to like them.
If they were just hemmed short, I would vote to send them to Goodwill. But, given that these appear to have a roll/button combination, I don't think they're really "capris", I think it's totally fine - especially with the right shoes. My son would wear them.
Kejama thinks they are cute - but would be very cute with a t-shirt that you can leave untucked. Why are guys so afraid of cropped pants? Strange.
Great job modeling Walter, love that smile!
I think Walter needs some new pants! He can really pull off this look though; I love his poses!
We think Walter is the best looking little boy in our family. Even in short pants.

Walter is cute not matter what he wears and in that he is on the long side he may find that his pants are frequently a little short. So I wouldn't worry about it one way or another.
Although I'm sure his great grandmother would have said "It looks like he is expecting a flood".
Dad
I think they look cute on him! As long as he likes them...who cares? They look the same as long shorts on my toddler. Cute!
I think we're missing the point here. Walter would look cute in a tutu. Doesn't mean I'm going to put him in one. If anyone (if a man) can actually say they own a pair of capri or if someone can say their husband owns a pair, then they can say capri are ok for Walter. I myself wouldn't wear a pair and I'm guessing Stephanie wouldn't want me to wear a pair. Thus, I wouldn't put Walter in a pair.
I think we should clear the air on the use of the word "capri". In this case, we're not talking about capri pants, which are pants hemmed to be a length that's longer than shorts, but shorter than pants. We're talking about rolled and buttoned pants - pants that are purposefully (but temporarily) adjusted to be shorter than they are for reasons of style and comfort.
We're not talking about Rafeal Nadal-inspired manpris.
Rather, there are plenty of examples of mens pants that are full-length being rolled for style
Also, what a father would wear and what his son can wear follow totally different rules. My wife wouldn't want me crawling into bed wearing a pair of Lightning McQueen under-roos, but my son can (and should!) wear those any time he wants. I wouldn't wear a pair of shoes with Oscar the Grouch on them, but my son kicks a** in his green Oscar shoes. It's a kid's job to look cute, and the pursuit of cute allows for clothing exemptions that adults can no longer cash in.
Besides, in this economy, we should all be looking for ways to stretch our pants dollar. If these go to Goodwill, new pants must be purchased to replace them...
On Walter these look like the new shorts he has quite got the height for yet. They will be great for rainy days and puddles, especially with the shoes he has on in the pictures. And most of all, he looks wildly pleased and happy (I wonder who he gets the "ham" from?). I vote yes until he's old enough to say he doesn't like them. And at that time, you won't buy them because he'll say no.

Hi Steph, He is quite the model. While I agree with Nate that Walter would look cute in any thing, please no tutu or capri pants for boys.
Aunt Chris
i WOULD SAVE THEM! Maybe they can be cut off for shorts next summer because he is so skinny. Maybe there will be a nice day yet this fall that they will be wanted. I won't buy him any of this style however. THey are great pictures and I might like to see him in a tutu. when he wants to wear one of the girls here someday I will try to remember to take a picture.
